The Atlantic's article about evangelical Christian's supporting Trump after nearly a decade of condemning the ways of Bill Clinton can be described as nothing less than compelling. Once again issues in the media arise about our faith and the hypocrisy that lies within. I believe within the article lies a load of hypocrisy smothered over by the idealism of "supporting the least corrupt candidate" .
The comparing of "sins" is found as evangelical supporters of Trump condemn the ways of one (Bill Clinton) while promoting the ways of another (Donald Trump). I believe the media has been very influential in Trump gaining the support of so many conservative homes. Trumps legacy throughout the entertainment industry and reality television has given him the connection into the homes and lives of families which is unseen in any candidate to date. Many Christian homes have embraced this bold individual as the article describes, "a good candidate with flaws". Being self-centered, flawed people evangelical Christians have a tendency to concern themselves only with the President's effect on society; as long as the candidate/president's personal life does not demoralize our "perfect Christian society" they could care less.
On the other hand, if evangelical Christians do not support the Clinton household the only other logical candidate to support is Mr. Donald Trump. Trump's labor union, anti-feminism and financial policies line up with a more conservative lifestyle. Maybe the desperation to shake things up has lead even the most conservative citizens in our nation to fire their shot blindfolded in hopes to lead our nation to prosperity. As Christian's we must use this election year, a year to go down in history, as an example for our judgmental ideologies on the moral beliefs and the personal lives of our leaders and the difference they make in our nation.
